The price of a website depends mainly on nine things: the number of pages, research and strategy, copywriting, custom versus template design, the platform, features and integrations, languages, SEO, and the content you already have. Pages are the factor people ask about most, but research and copy usually make the biggest difference to the result.
Here is how each factor moves a quote, using the prices from our own pricing page as examples. All prices include VAT.
1. Number of pages
More pages mean more design, more building and more testing. With us, a landing page starts at €1,500 and a website with up to 5 pages at €2,500. Each extra page on top of a package costs €100. If you offer several services, give each one its own page: it costs a little more and helps both customers and Google.
2. Research and strategy
This is the factor cheap offers leave out. Before any design, we interview the owner for 60–90 minutes and analyse 5 to 10 competitors, depending on the package. The research decides what the website says first, what proof it shows and how it differs from competitors. Skipping it saves money at the start and usually costs enquiries later.
3. Copywriting
Most websites that bring no enquiries fail because of the words. Writing or editing headlines and texts for every page takes time, and it is often priced separately elsewhere. In our packages, copy editing and headlines are included from the Basic website up.
4. Custom design or template
A template is faster and cheaper, and it looks like thousands of other sites. A custom design is made for your brand and your customers. Most of our projects are custom designs, often built on no-code platforms so you can edit them yourself afterwards.
5. The platform
Builders like Wix have low build costs but monthly fees and limits. Webflow and Duda allow custom design with easy editing. A fully coded website suits special features but needs a developer for larger changes. We compared the running costs in Wix vs Squarespace vs Shopify vs a custom website.
6. Features and integrations
Every feature adds design, setup and testing. Typical examples from our add-on list:
| Feature | Price |
|---|---|
| Booking integration | €290 |
| Google Business Profile setup | €190 |
| Email automation | €390 |
| Extra page | €100 |
Online shops, member areas and customer portals cost considerably more and are quoted individually.
7. Languages
A second language means translated copy, a second set of pages to check, and correct language settings for Google. In Austria, a German and English website is common for businesses with international customers or tourists. Plan it from the start: adding a language later costs more than building it in.
8. SEO
Every website should have the SEO basics: clear page titles, descriptions, a sitemap, fast loading and Google Search Console. A full SEO structure for every service and location is more work and is part of our Premium and Growth websites. Ongoing SEO is a monthly service, from €390 per month.
9. Your content
If you have good photos, prices and customer reviews ready, the project moves faster. If photos need to be taken or texts written from scratch, that adds time and cost. Missing content is also the most common reason projects take longer than planned.
Why two quotes for the same website can differ by €6,000
When one agency quotes €1,500 and another €7,500, they are rarely quoting the same thing. The cheaper quote often means a template, your own copy and no research. The expensive one may include brand design, photography or months of SEO. Ask every agency for a line-by-line list of what is included, and compare the lists, not the totals.
Proof from a real project
Jenergy, a solar business in Melbourne, needed a website that would make people trust a high-value purchase. The budget went into structure, not extras: complex installation information was reorganised into a clear flow, with interactive elements where they helped explain the offer. The Webflow site went live in three weeks.
Our opinion
If your budget is limited, cut features before you cut research and copy. A simple website that says the right thing brings more enquiries than an impressive one that says what every competitor says.
FAQ
What factors influence website project pricing?
The main factors are the number of pages, research and strategy, copywriting, custom or template design, the platform, features such as bookings or a shop, the number of languages, the depth of SEO work, and how much content already exists.
How do agencies price a website?
Most agencies price either by package or by estimated hours. Packages give you a fixed price for a defined scope. Hourly pricing is flexible but harder to predict. We work with fixed prices: you get a quote before work starts, and the price stays the same.
Why are some websites so expensive?
Expensive websites usually include research, custom design, professional copy, integrations and SEO, sometimes photography and branding as well. Ask for a list of what is included before you judge the price.
How can I lower the price of my website?
Prepare your content (photos, prices, reviews), start with fewer pages and add more later, and skip features you do not need at launch. Do not cut research and copy, as they decide whether the site brings enquiries.
